Education

Ms. Berzin began working as a Law Clerk at the Shimoda Law Corp. in her first year of law school. She is now in her third and final year of law school at University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law. After taking the California Bar Examination in July 2017, she will return to the Shimoda Law Corp. as a Post-Bar Law Clerk.

Ms. Berzin has been on the Dean’s Honor List throughout her time at McGeorge. She was also the recipient of various scholarships, including the Judge Loren Dahl Memorial Award and Pacific Presidential Scholarship for students who are ranked in the top 5% of their class at the end of their first year of law school. Ms. Berzin received the Witkin Award for Academic Excellence in Legal Research and Writing as well as Civil Procedure. Additionally, Ms. Berzin actively participates in the Employment and Labor Law Student Association at McGeorge, having served as Secretary and now as President. Ms. Berzin participated in a Legal Clinic for two consecutive summers as a Student Counselor and then Student Director through the Center for Workers’ Rights, a non-profit organization that strives to improve working conditions and remedy injustices for low-wage workers in the Sacramento area.

Ms. Berzin is also a member of the nationally recognized McGeorge Mock Trial Team. In October 2016, her team advanced to the championship round of the California Attorneys for Criminal Justice Trial Advocacy Competition in San Francisco, California. Ms. Berzin graduated from the University of California Davis where she received a B.A. in Psychology.

Legal Experience

As a law clerk, Ms. Berzin has been actively involved in the drafting of discovery, pleadings, and complex motion practice. This includes extensive research regarding numerous legal issues regarding claims under the Fair Employment and Housing Act, the California Labor Code, the California Wage Orders, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and the California Family Rights Act.

Ms. Berzin’s advocacy experience includes conducting several hearings and a bench trial as a Certified Student Attorney in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California.

Personal Interest

Ms. Berzin enjoys spending time with her friends and family as well as her mini-dachshund, Darwin. She also enjoys participating in local races, such as the Angel Island 12K and Davis Stampede 10K.
